27/07/2023 Is SEO a nerdy affair?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. In theory, it encompasses all the strategies needed to bring a website to the top results displayed by the search engine. It is indeed so in practice, but the truth is that SEO is much more than that.
Perhaps it is truly a matter that closely concerns nerds or rather all those people who have the patience to analyze screens full of keywords and search volumes, to scan Google’s SERP to find that unique insight that no one had thought of before.
Certainly, SEO is a marketing tool: if you choose to dominate digital channels, you cannot ignore it.
SEO and Brand Awareness
In a world overloaded with information where simply typing a query into Google results in being inundated with a deluge of content, it is not easy to make your voice heard.
Everyone writes, and everyone wants to reach that first position, up there, on the first page. Yet many forget that being up there, in the first place, is not a vanity metric.
Being there means having a great responsibility towards those who read us: providing valuable content. And to give substance to what we write, SEO must become a catalyst for our brand and the values we advocate.
SEO makes the web a better place
Google has a clear mission: “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”
Accessible and useful, two extremely powerful words because “people use search engines more than they use teachers or libraries to make sense of the world they live in.”
And those who know how to do SEO as Google commands know that they must first write for people, and this is how they can contribute to making the web a better place, an inclusive place.
